Cosmetic Medicine and Hair Restoration
In 1996, he received training on tumescent liposuction from the grandfather of this technique, Dr. Jeffrey Klein. Dr Poon was trained on the technique of injection Lipolysis by Dr. Franz Hasengschwandtner, the Austrian doctor who pioneered the technique of Lipolysis (or Lipodissolve) for body contouring in 2002. He was elected as a fellow of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery in 1996 and was admitted as a fellow of the European Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in 1998. Dr. Poon received training in hair restoration in 1997 and became a member of the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He was admitted as a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery in 1999. He joined the American Society of Liposuction Surgery in 1997. He practiced cosmetic surgery for over 10 years and has performed thousands of cosmetic and laser procedures.
With the development of new technology and techniques in the field of cosmetic surgery and medicine, Dr. Poon has found that many patients can achieve equal or superior results without going through surgery. He has designed an innovative combination of different treatment modalities to rejuvenate and contour the body and the face without the risks, complications and inconveniences of surgery and anaesthesia.
While most cosmetic surgeons are only interested in performing surgery on a patient, Dr. Poon takes a holistic approach in caring for his patients. He understands the importance of nutritional, hormonal, immunological, spiritual and psychosocial factors that affects the well-being and appearance of a person. He and his associates offer professional services in these areas. Dr. Poon is a diplomat of the American Board of Anti-aging and Regenerative Medicine.
Dr. Poon is a certified Lipolysis physician. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the International Society of Lipolysis Therapy, the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine, the Canadian Medical Association and the Canadian College of Family Physicians.
Dr. Poon continually upgrades his knowledge and skills by attending world class conferences and workshops. He is affiliated with many organizations such as Network Global Health, Network Lipolysis, American Board of Anti-aging and Regenerative Medicine which consist of networks of doctors who are world leaders and pioneers in the field of anti-aging and cosmetic medicine and surgery.
